5-Day Colorado Guided Rifle Elk Hunt with Elk Basin Outfitters.

This 2024 hunt is offered for 3rd rifle season where tags are available over the counter. Door prize does not include cost of licenses, tags, or transportation to the outfitter's lodge. Winner may bring another hunter on this hunt for half-price ($2300). Non-hunting guest may accompany hunter on this trip for $100/night.  A non-hunting guest that goes into the field with the hunter must pay half-price ($2300) as they will be taking a hunter's slot. This door prize is non-transferable.

Elk Basin Outfitters is a full service outfitter specializing in Colorado wilderness hunts. The Best Colorado elk hunting and mule deer hunting in the state.  Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate handicapped hunters. 

We are a full time wilderness hunting outfitter offering a variety of services, from fully guided Colorado wilderness elk hunts to DIY (Do
it yourself) or more commonly known as drop camp hunts. Whether it be for Colorado wilderness Elk, Colorado Mule Deer, Colorado Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep, or Colorado Mountain Goat we specialize in all Colorado archery hunts. Also available are Colorado summer time activities such as Colorado Pack-in trips, Colorado Horseback rides, and Colorado Fishing trips. Of course the best part is it all takes place in the majestic west elk wilderness of Colorado.

We currently have many square miles that contain thousands of acres of permitted use, which is filled with abundant game. So please come join us for a Colorado hunt of a life time.

HUNTING AREA - Our hunting area is in the majestic west elk wilderness of Colorado (unit 53).  Since it is a designated wilderness area that means there is no motorized equipment allowed.  So everything we do is on horses or on foot.  Our camps sit about 9,000 ft to 9,500 ft in elevation, and you will elk hunt any were from 8,000 ft to 12,500 ft in elevation.

CAMPS - Our camps have top notch equipment and consists of 5 ft wall canvas tents with wood stoves, and cot’s w/foam for sleeping.  With separate cook tents and guide/equipment tents.  There truly is no other way to go on a Colorado elk or Colorado mule deer wilderness hunt, then this way.

HORSES/GUIDES - No matter your experience with a horse, be it none to a lot we have the right horse for you!!  Our guides all have 2 – 15+ years of experience and all are excellent Colorado elk and Colorado mule deer hunters themselves, and know the area very well.

HUNTING DAYS - Guided hunts are a full 5 days of Colorado hunting with one day pack-in and one day pack-out for a total of 7-days.

HUNTER SAFETY CARD - If you were born after or on January 1st, 1949 you must possess a valid hunter safety card from any state on all Colorado hunts.  State hunting licenses are not acceptable!!!!!

OUTFITTER LICENSE, INSURANCE, AND FIRST AID - Elk Basin Outfitters is licensed, insured and bonded through the state of Colorado and all employees are trained and certified in first aid and CPR

WEATHER - Elk Basin Outfitters is not responsible for weather conditions.  The weather in Colorado can have a large influence on hunting.  But is out of our control.

WILDERNESS AREA - We hunt remote Colorado wilderness area!  Elk Basin Outfitters is the only legal, permitted Colorado Outfitter in this area, and because of its remoteness there is virtually no hunting pressure.
